Basic Information on the State Attorney’s Office
The State Attorney’s Office of the Republic of Serbia is a separate state body which was, as such, established by the Law on State Attorney’s Office (“Official Gazette of RS”, No. 55/2014). The State Attorney’s Office protects property rights and interests of the Republic of Serbia, represents the Republic of Serbia, its bodies, and organizations before domestic and international courts, arbitrations, administrative bodies, and other competent bodies.
The seat of the State Attorney’s Office is in Belgrade, in the building of state bodies located at 22-26, Nemanjina Street. Work at the seat of the State Attorney’s Office is organized in sectors, the number of which amounts to 12. The sectors are managed by Deputy State Attorneys who all sit at the address of the seat, while the Sector for representation of the Republic of Serbia before the European Court of Human Rights is located in Belgrade, 2, Bulevar Mihajla Pupina Street.
The State Attorney’s Office has 11 more sections, as follows: in Valjevo, Zaječar, Zrenjanin, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Leskovac, Niš, Novi Sad, Požarevac, Subotica, and Užice.
As of September 11, 2015, the function of the State Attorney has been performed by Olivera Stanimirović.
